Got up at 10:00 and had breakfast and coffee. Then I showered and dressed and went out to Flushing.

While on the 20 bus I got a phone call from [personal profile] mashfanficchick. That was nice.

Then I got to Flushing. My goal was to buy some inexpensive but nice things to use as raffle prizes at the Al-anon anniversary on Saturday. I decided to go to Marshalls and see what they had.

So that's what I did. I went to the Skyview Mall and went to Mashalls. I ended up getting three things, a mug, a picture frame, and some bag clips in the shape of cats. A little bit more expensive than I planned but not much.

Then I walked back to the center of Flushing, and stopped to get a pork bun at one of the small shops. I was going to eat it there, but decided to take it home instead. Then I went to Duane Reade for wrapping paper and a small gift bag for the mug.

The escalator was out of order again, so I had to use the elevator (there's no stairs) which is kinda creepy, but no problem. I got my stuff and paid.

Then I went back to the bus stop, stopping at the bank to take out money. I took the bus home, collected my mail from my box and came in.

Some good news in the mail, if I understand the paperwork correctly, my DEXA scan has been paid for by the insurance. If you recall, there was some possible doubt that it would be.

Then I ate my pork bun, which is delicious, but messy. Then I went to the bedroom and lay down. First I played solitaire, then I started reading The King's Peace. I'm almost done now.

At 6ish I came out and got back on the computer and at 7:00 I Teamed the FWiB. We talked til my Al-anon meeting at 8:00.

The meeting was quite good, though M didn't come. S was there though.

After the meeting I had dinner, then went to the bedroom again where I played more solitaire until pet feeding time.

Then I fed the pets and started here. Low key but pleasant day.

Gratitude List:

1. The FWiB.

2. Got my shopping done.

3. Delicious pork bun.

4. My meetings and the people there.

5. Good books.

6. Nice day.

I like how I put that into Google and the soulless machine summary immediately popped up with a helpful definition and usage as though this is some common phrase that we all know from our school days.

Having finally beaten Wall World and done some catch-up on Final Fantasy XIV, I've been thinking about what I want to play next. I want to play through Actraiser, which I've played but never beaten in the past, but after that I think it's time to finally play through Final Fantasy III. So I scrolled through my Steam game list to find it, since I know I booted it up not that long ago to make sure the Japanese language option works, and I find it and it says:
Last Played: April 24, 2024
2024? Emoji eye bugging out But no, it wasn't that long ago, was it? It can't be, I clearly remember doing it. How can it be two years ago?

I do think a lot about how the Plague Years really feel like they threw the world out of balance. [instagram.com profile] sashagee and I have been together for six years but it feels much longer than that, and it felt much longer than that even a couple years ago. On the other hand, my life where I was going out most nights, back in 2018-2020, wasn't that long ago but it feels like an entirely different lifetime. This is also the weird part about being older is that my memories feel unstuck in time--things that happened ten years ago (like my last trip to Japan) are clear in my mind and don't feel any older than the Hawai'i trip I took recently. Intellectually I know it's because memories have no time sense, their vividness is based on the emotional impression they leave on you, and I also know that your sense of time changes when you get older because a year is an increasingly-smaller fraction of your life, but it's still weird to have all these events I know took place at quite-different times seem like they might have happened recently.

Still going to play Final Fantasy III this year. I wonder if that'll be fresh in my mind in a decade?

Ruin has come to our family.

...which is to say, Laila brought home a sickness from preschool. On Thursday poor Laila was crying because her tummy hurt so much and at [instagram.com profile] sashagee's urging we took her to the doctor. They did an X-ray and found no blockage or anything concerning, and she was still eating normally and using the bathroom, so they told us to keep an eye on her and come back if she got worse. She did not, but we did--[instagram.com profile] sashagee spent most of Saturday hunched over the toilet and I spent a big chunk of last night laying on the floor with a cold hand towel on my forehead trying to prevent the same thing.

Currently at work but neither [instagram.com profile] sashagee nor I have gotten much sleep in the last couple of days. Hopefully nothing too complex comes up.

I did nothing today

Really nothing. Got up at 10:00, ate breakfast and had coffee.

Then for hours I did nothing but putter on line. Eventually I went and read more in The King's Peace.

There was something really weird going on with my email but not on my phone, only in the actually web based version on the computer. 11 pages of non personal email dated January '99 suddenly appeared in the beginning of my inbox. The current emails were all there, after those 11 pages. I finally deleted them and two more pages appeared. I have no idea what was going on. It was weird and freaky. It's back to normal now.

Anyway, at 7:00 I Teamed the FWiB. We talked for an hour and a half, then got off and I had dinner.

Then I went to the bedroom and texted [personal profile] mashfanficchick to see if ze had had a chance to see Thursday's 911 yet. Ze had not but was going to soon, and I hope ze will call me afterward.

Then I played solitaire and scrolled Facebook til pet feeding time.

And that was the day.

Gratitude List:

1. The FWiB.

2. Good books.

3. Quiet day.

4. Email back to normal.

5. My pets.

6. Friends.

Happy Mother's Day

to any and all mothers of any type.

I didn't sleep too well last night, don't know why. Got up at 10:00 anyway, and had breakfast and coffee. [personal profile] mashfanficchick called to touch base and we talked awhile. Then I took a shower and washed my hair, and dressed for going to see the Kid.

She called and wished me happy Mother's Day and finally told me where we were eating. A restaurant called Off the Hook. Seafood, mostly.

I went to the Starsky and Hutch creative work session and had a good time chatting, and also got some writing done. I left at 4:00 in order to get to Astoria on time. I stopped at the two discount stores on the way to look for a birthday card for the Kid, and got something.

When I got to the bus stop, I ended up waiting about 15 minutes for the bus, longer than I should have. But I got there on time anyway, even a bit early.

It was just starting to rain when I got off the bus, so I made the decision right then to Uber home.

The restaurant was very good. I had shrimp cocktail, and a warm lobster roll. They were both delicious, as was the Island Punch I had to drink.

After we finished dinner, we walked up a block to an ice cream shop called Ample Hills. I had two scoops of a flavor that I don't remember the name of, but that was coffee and cinnamon. Awfully good.

The rain had pretty much stopped, but I called an Uber anyway, and took that home.

When I got here I Teamed the FWiB. It was close to 7:30 by then, so we were still talking at 8:30 when I had him wait and called Middle Brother. Hes fine, but hasn't done anything interesting. He is looking forward to Memorial Day through.

Talked to the FWiB some more til 9:00, then putter online for a bit. Then went and lay down and played solitaire til pet feeding time.

Fed the pets and started here.

Earlier in the day Pieter started a group chat to wish some of the cousins happy Mother's Day and he included me, so that was nice.

All in all a very nice Mother's Day.

Gratitude List:

1. The FWiB.

2. The Kid. (The best Mother's day gift I ever got... her birthday was two days after Mother's day that year)

3. The Starsky and Hutch fandom.

4. My extended family.

5. Good dinner, and ice cream.

6. Middle Brother is well.

Sad anniversary

Today marks a year since Oldest Brother died. I got up at 9:00, had breakfast and coffee, and took a shower and dressed.

I left fr my Al-anon meeting just after the mail had been delivered so I collected mine from the box but didn't have time to read it. I put it inside my front door and then went off to my meeting.

I was the speaker today. I didn't do that deliberately when I agreed speak today, but when I realized it was the 9th, I was happy I was doing it. I chose the topic of grief. It was very successful and I was told by a lot of people afterward that I was good.

We went to the diner after, I gt a ride with S and G as usual. I also got my usual bacon, egg, and cheese on a toasted English muffin, but I got hot tea, because the weather was so icky it was nice to have hot tea.

The Kid texted while I was there, we are giog to meet at 5:30 tomorrow but she hasn't told me where yet!!

It rained heavily while we were eating but had stopped by the time we left, which was good as I hadn't brought an umbrella with me or a hat. G gave me a plastic rain bonnet she had, so I wore that just in case.

Came home and went to the Starsky and Hutch chat. I missed the episode of course, but enjoyed the chat. We talked til almost 7:30.

Then I Teamed the FWiB. Things were going fine until just after 8:30, when something went wrong with Teams, I think on his end, and kicked us out. We ended up with him phoning me and saying goodbye that way.

Then I read online, and then had a snack. I went to the bedroom and texted [personal profile] mashfanficchick but ze couldn't talk then. Hopefully ze'll call me later. Then I played solitaire on my phone.

Then it was pet feeding time and I fed the pets, and started here.

One year Oldest Brother has been gone and I miss him every day with every fiber of my being.

Gratitude List:

1. The FWiB.

2. My meetings and the people at them.

3. The opportunity to speak today.

4. The memory of Oldest Brother and the time we had together.

5. The Starsky and Hutch fandom.

6. There was no rain on my way home.

Pretty quiet day

I got up at 10:00, had breakfast and coffee, and puttered on the computer for awhile.

Got texts from [personal profile] mashfanficchick about Dani, who was in a car accident some days ago (I didn't mention here) but went to a neurologist today to be checked out, and is OK for her trip she's taking.

I showered and dressed, and eventually took out a bag of recycling and walked around the block. On the way back in I brought in the mail, including some meds and the letter from Middle Brother's group home about the incident I got the phone call about before. Apparently the anonymous call referred specifically to neglect, but as far as I can tell Middle Brother is doing fine, so I'm not worried.

I got a phone call from my surgeon officially telling me what I already knew, that my mammogram was normal. The email I got had been from the lab.

Around 3:30 I lay down and dozed off, not really falling deeply asleep but drifting off, until 5:00 when I got up and went to my Al-anon meeting in the Bronx.

I had pizza for dinner again as usual, and then the meeting which was very good.

Got a ride to the bus stop from M as usual, didn't have to wait to long for a bus. But when I got to the 25 stop, according to my app there was a 17 minute wait for a bus, so I took an Uber.

Got home and, since I hadn't heard from the FWiB by email I called him. Then we Teamed for about an hour, and all was well.

Fed the pets, and started here. That's about all there was all day.

Gratitude List:

1. The FWiB.

2. My meetings and the people there.

3. Once again, my mammogram was normal.

4. Pizza,

5. Dani OK fr her trip.

6. Bed soon.

Edited to add: Forgot to say, got a text from the Kid. looks like we're getting together on Mother's Day.

Blood donation time

I got up at 10:00 and had breakfast and coffee. Then I showered and dressed, wore one of the new bralettes to try it out. Worked out fine, very comfortable.

Then I killed time on the computer til 1:45 when I left to go to the blood donation center. Took the 20 bus to the subway and the 7 train to the F, and there to 71st Ave and it's right there.

I was early but it didn't make any difference, they got me filling out the form immediately and then took me right in. The donation went easily, and really went fast, I was surprised. The center is very attractive and modern and comfortable.

Afterward I had cookies (chocolate chip, and butter crunch) and juice (cranberry and apple) and chocolate pudding. I felt fine, not even the slight dizziness I have sometimes had after a donation.

After I ate and drank and felt safe to leave I walked to Red Mango, which you pass between the center and the subway. I had passion fruit frozen yogurt with stuff for lunch. The only seating is outside though, and it was a little too windy to be totally enjoyable.

I got home around 5:00, and puttered online, making sure my TV was set up for the finale of 911 and 911:Nashville at 8:00 and 9:00.

At 7:00 I Teamed the FWiB. We talked til just before my shows.

The 911 finale was very nail biting. The Nashville finale was very... soapy. But I enjoyed them both.

I called Middle Brother at 8:30 as usual. He is fine, went out yesterday to a store, I didn't catch what he said, and 7-11 for treats. He's happy.

At 10:00 I fed the pets and made myself dinner, and started here.

And that was the day.

Oh, I have forgotten to say for several days that at 11:30 pm on Monday I got the email with the results of my mammogram and sonogram. They were normal. So all is well on that front.

Gratitude List:

1. The FWiB.

2. The new blood donation center.

3. Red Mango frozen yogurt.

4. Good TV.

5. Middle Brother is happy.

6. The mammogram was good.

New Harry Dresden

Got up this morning at 11:00 and had breakfast, then put in a Shipt order, and then had coffee.

The Shipt order came and I put it away. I puttered around, did a little cleaning, then at 2:30 I got the notice that my copy of the new Jim Butcher Harry Dresden novella, Out Law, had been delivered. I ordered it Tuesday after midnight so this was next day delivery.

I collected it and immediately started reading it. It's just as good and enjoyable as the rest of the series. It's 194 or so pages, so longer than you would expect. I finished it around 5:00.

Then I put on some clothes and took out the garbage and walked around the block. It had been raining but was stopped.

My psychiatrist called and we talked. Then I puttered on the computer until 7:oo when I Teamed the FWiB. I idn't think there was a D&D game tonight but I popped into Discord on my phone at 8:00 and again at 8:10 to make sure and no one else was there. So we talked til 8:40.

Then I had dinner, and went to the bedroom. I got started thinking about a book I read back in the 70s that I would like to read again, and took a guess at the title. I looked up that title an I was right! I found it in Thriftbooks for about $13 so I ordered it. Star Rider by Doris Piserchia.

Then it was pet feeding time so I fed the pets, and started here.

Tomorrow I go and donate blood.

Gratitude List:

1. The FWiB.

2. Got the new Harry Dresden.

3. Avoided the rain when I took out the garbage.

4. Remembered the title of that book.

5. Thriftbooks.

6. My psychiatrist.

So I took [instagram.com profile] sashagee to see The Midnight

2026-05-02 - The Midnight concert
The most Outrun of the pictures I took.

I've been listening to the Midnight for years, and I even had a brief interaction where they liked a tweet I made about them back when Twitter was actually marginally worth being on:

The Midnight last came through our fair city in 2024, but their concert was the evening that Yom Kippur ended and there was no way I would be able to go to see them. So when I asked [instagram.com profile] sashagee a question form of that quote and she responded with "saxophones" I said "There's this band we have to go see" and on Saturday night we went to the Salt Shed to attend the concert. I paid extra for seats, so we had assigned seats on the rafters up above the hoi polloi, and therefore we bought drinks and stood in the merch line beforehand since we had a place to put our things (we bought LPs of Days of Thunder and Syndicate--they sadly did not have Nocturnal at all).

The concert was fantastic! We missed part of New Constellations (the opener)'s set because I guess starting exactly on time is the new standard, but [instagram.com profile] sashagee had heard some of their music before and was happy to hear them live--the singer had a fantastic husky voice that sounded right out of an 80s music video. [instagram.com profile] sashagee had never heard of The Midnight, though, and partway through told me she loved the music and I said "Oh yeah, I have tons of stuff like this on my computer" and she was like, "That's news to me! You're always playing beep boop music and fucking bardcore." So now I have to keep an eye out for when TimeCop1983 or Gunship or Occam's Laser or Perturbator or Lazerhawk or Carpenter Brut, or even Kavinsky (does he even perform outside of France?) are coming through and take her to see those too.

She really liked it when the guy over on keyboard picked up the saxophone and took center stage. So did I, of course--there's a reason I made that tweet, and a reason I mentioned the Midnight stands out from other synthwave bands. Thought apparently Gunship got Tim Cappello to play saxophone for them?? I had no idea.

[instagram.com profile] sashagee's favorite live song was "Good in Red" off of Horror Show, and mine was "River of Darkness" off of Nocturnal, though "Days of Thunder" was great live and "Heart Worth Breaking" sounded a lot better live than the studio recording--I think the singer put a lot more emotion in his voice. That was true of most of the songs we heard, actually. This is why you go to see live shows. I can still hear the whole audience singing along to "Gloria."

Afterwards we went on bar crawl with [facebook.com profile] gmarchan and [instagram.com profile] confuciusdragon, who were getting out of their own show, and [instagram.com profile] snagengast and her husband who met up with us, so we didn't get home until almost 3 a.m. It's a good thing that Laila was at Poppa and Nana's and didn't get back until dinner time.

Happy Cinco de Mayo

[personal profile] silver_chipmunk
I slept late for no particular reason today, got up around 12:00. Then I had breakfast and coffee, and went and showered and dressed.

[personal profile] mashfanficchick called and asked if I would be available to stay with zer and help with Theo for a few days in June, and I said yes. Sounds like fun.

I went to Target in search of cheap bras, or rather, bralettes. I started wearing bralettes after the lumpectomy because they fit better having two different sized breasts. Anyway, I found nice cheap Fruit of the Loom ones, two packs, for only $15.

The only problem was, the two in the two packs were fastened together so I couldn't try them on. But I estimated what size should fit, and bought two sets anyway.

Then I wandered around the store and found something for [personal profile] mashfanficchick's birthday. So that was good.

I walked down the strip mall, to Petco, and bought a small thing of turtle food. That and the remainder of what I still have should get me through til the repete shipment comes in at the end of the month.

Then I went to Home Goods, but didn't see anything to buy, so I just walked back to the bus stop.

After I got off the bus I walked to J's Confections, and got some bubble tea, taro flavor. Very good. I stayed and drank it there, but I didn't stay long, it's not as cozy as Busy Bee.

So I went home and tried on one of the bralettes. Fortunately it fit well. So I have four new bralettes, which I needed as the old ones were getting worn out.

It was around 5:00 by then so I lay down and rested for an hour, playing solitaire. Then I got on the computer. I decided that since it was Cinco de Mayo I should do something to celebrate in a small way, so for the first time in literally years I ordered dinner on Seamless. I got a steak quesadilla and a bottle of Jarritos soda, tamarind flavor.

The order was delivered remarkably quickly, so I was already done eating (and it was very good, I should say) by the time the FWiB Teamed.

We talked until I had to get off for my Al-anon meeting. It was small, just me and M and S. I told S about the Saturday meeting anniversary on the 16th and he said he'll try to come.

After the meeting I tried to schedule myself for a blood donation tomorrow, but it turns out the new blood center in Forest Hills is closed Wednesdays. So I scheduled for Thursday. It's going to rain tomorrow anyway.

I went to the bedroom and puttered on my phone til pet feeding time. Then I fed the pets and here I am.

Gratitude List:

1. The FWiB.

2. My meetings and the people there.

3. Found nice bralettes cheaply that fit.

4. Bubble tea.

5. Birthday present purchased.

6. Lovely flowers at the mall.

May the Fourth Be With You!

I didn't do anything particularly Star Wars related though. I got up at 11:00, got a phone call from [personal profile] mashfanficchick which was very nice.

Had breakfast and coffee. Then made an appointment for my follow up with the sleep doctor.

I thought about things to do today cause I didn't want to just sit at home, and finally decided to go to the Busy Bee and sit there.

So I took a shower and got dressed, packed my book and walked down to the Busy Bee.

I sat and read for several hours. I got a lavender creme latte when I got there, and somewhat later when I felt hungry I got fettuccine Alfredo to eat, which was pretty good.

It was a lovely peaceful time. Then I walked home.

[Unknown site tag] called again, to let Theo tell me that he made scrambled eggs and they turned out delicious. So I got to listen to that, which was sweet.

At 7:00 I Teamed the FWiB, and we talked til 8:30.

Then I ate the rest of the chicken from yesterday; there wasn't as much left as I thought, so it didn't matter I'd eaten before.

Then I went and called the Kid, who of course didn't answer, so I texted her, and low and behold that she did answer, so I know she got the first issue of Enchanted World, hasn't read it yet, but it looks very interesting. And she doesn't know what she wants for her birthday.

I fiddled on my phone til pet feeding time, and then I fed the pets, ate four strawberries that [personal profile] mashfanficchick gave me, and started here

A nice day.

Gratitude List:

1. The FWiB.

2. The Busy Bee.

3. Good books.

4. The kid is interested in the magazine I got her.

5. Nice weather.

6. Strawberries.

I had never heard of this game at all before it was recommended to me by someone who I work together with on Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead, so when I saw it was on sale for $2, I picked it up. When I checked it out on HowLongToBeat and saw that it was only ten hours or so, I figured it'd be fun to play after finishing all the postgame of Clair Obscur.

That's it. I usually have more to say in these intros but like I said, this game was completely new to me. I didn't have any preconceptions going in because I had no conception at all, so you're getting this with no nostalgia or anecdotes about the last time I played this. Savor it.

After being up late (until about 3:00) last night I slept until about 12:00 today. Then I got up and had breakfast and coffee.

At 1:30 I went to the Starsky and Hutch Creative Work session. We had a good time chatting, and I learned that there is a Judy Bolton fan site I will have to explore. There's even a yearly convention!

Anyway, I chatted til about 6:30, and even got some writing done, both in the little 20 minute fic, and the longer one, which is now over 6000 words.

At 7:00 I Teamed the FWiB. We talked til 8:30, when I tried to call Middle Brother, but was told they were out at a movie, and he would call me back. I continued talking with the FWiB for another 15 minutes, and then we got off.

I made inner, some of the chicken [personal profile] mashfanficchick gave me yesterday, which was very good. I'll eat the rest tomorrow.

[personal profile] mashfanficchick called and we had a bit of conversation. Then after ze got off, Middle Brother called. They went to see the Michael Jackson movie, and he enjoyed it. He also went to a Chinese Buffet on Friday and he ate a lot.

I went to the bedroom and called the Kid. To my surprise she actually answered but couldn't talk cause she was driving. But at least I got a little time with her.

Then I played solitaire til pet feeding time when I fed the pets and started here.

Gratitude List:

1. The FWiB.

2. The Starsky and Hutch fandom.

3. Middle Brother having fun.

4. [personal profile] mashfanficchick safely on zer way.

5. My pets.

6. The Kid actually answered her phone.

Changed plans

[personal profile] silver_chipmunk
The original plan for today and tomorrow was to go to my meeting, then the diner, and then come home and go to the Starsky and Hutch chat, then go to [personal profile] mashfanficchick's tomorrow to catch up on our TV shows. So I got up at 9:00 and had breakfast and coffee, and then took a shower.

While I was showering the phone rang. I let voice mail take it, but checked it when I got out. It was [personal profile] mashfanficchick so after I dried off and went to the bedroom to dress, I called zer back.

Thurns out that for reasons I won't go into, ze was changing zer plans and leaving for Ohio tomorrow. That meant that our plans for tomorrow were off, so ze suggested I come over today after the diner and watch the shows, plus ze had to empty some stuff out of the fridge I could have. I thought about it and said yes.

So that's what happened, I went to my meeting, where my hat (remember my missing hat from last week?) did not reappear. Oh well. We did go to the diner afterward, i got a ride with S and G as usual. I felt like having a treat so I got a bagel with lox and cream cheese.

After the diner I took the 13 bus into Flushing and the subway from there to [profile] mashfanfichick's, and we started watching our shows. We had one episode each of Will Trent, 911, and 911:Nashville.

Then when we were watching 911:Nashville, ze got a phone call from zer dear friend-as-close-as-a-brother Josh, saying he was in town with his wife and did ze want to get together for coffee? So of course ze said yes. Luckily there was just time to finish the episode while ze got ready.

We took the E train to the 7 and the 7 train to I forget what station, and met them in Paris Baguette. WE hung out there for about an hour I guess... I didn't time it. I got a hot chocolate to drink. They had a great time talking, and I enjoyed it too.

Then we walked with them to the apartment where they were staying, and the ze and I went looking for a place for dinner.

We decided on a Mexican place called Chihuahua, and had a nice dinner there. I had a shrimp quesadilla and two virgin pina coladas.

Then we took the subway back to zer place, and got the food that ze wanted me to have out, and I Ubered home.

So Sunday ze is off to Ohio, and I do the Starsky and Hutch Creative Work session.

Gratitude List:

1. The FWiB, though we didn't get to talk.

2. My meetings and the people there.

3. Good TV shows.

4. Unexpected visits.

5. Good dinner.

6. Good weather for everything.

  1. Do you like to spend time outdoors?

Yes! I like walking, hiking and swimming outside. I don’t get to do any of those things often enough, but when I do, they make me very happy.

  2. What is your favorite flower?

Whichever ones are currently in bloom. Right now it’s the tulips, and an iris just opened so for a few days it will be them as they're ephemeral. The roses are getting ready to go as well, and all of our rose bushes are bursting with buds this year which is nice to see.

  3. Any favourite warm weather activities?

Gardening for hours, and then sitting on the lawn afterward with a refreshing cold beverage, admiring my handiwork and planning what to do next.

  4. Have you ever kept a garden? If so, what did you grow?

Yes! I’m not really the architect of our garden. The layout is all the bloke’s handiwork. I like weeding, trimming, and helping out the flowering plants and veg he chooses.

  5. Do you know how to swim?

Yes, but not particularly well. I do wish I’d had proper swimming lessons as a child. Both my children swim very well because of their lessons, and Humuhumu has done lifesaving courses too.

Sleep study, and busy Friday

So I went to the sleep lab last night, 44 bus to 46 bus, to 271st street and Uber from there. The study went very well, I actually managed to sleep despite all the leads and wires and sensors (including the one up my nose). I read for about an hour, then turned off the light and actually slept. I woke up a few times but nothing unusual.

They woke me up at around 5:30 and took off the stuff, and I dressed and Ubered home. It was not $70, only $40, so that's good. I ate breakfast and fed Oreo his Fancy Feast, the went and showered and shampooed my hair to get the paste that they use for the sensors on your upper head out. Then I went tobed and slept for three hours.

Then I got up and had coffee and dressed, and read the computer til 12:15 when I Ubered to my mammogram. That went fine, I also had a breast sonogram. I'll get the results soon.

Then I went to Duane Reade to finally get my prescriptions, I had to wait cause it was their lunch time.

Then I took the subway to Manhattan to go to the union May Day rally and march. It took me awhile to find where I was supposed to be, and I missed all of the speeches in the center of Washington Square park. I mean, I could hear them but not make out words. But I hung out and talked to a lot of fellow DC 37 people and that was interesting.

But the march took forever to get started. After 5:00. I was expecting to be done by 6:00 and be able to get to my 7:00 meeting only a little late. Nope. The march finally reached Foley Square at 6:30. I left then and made my way to the Bronx, the 5 train to 86th street and the express bus from there. The traffic was also awful, so I didn't make it til just in time for the second meeting. Which was very good.

Afterward I got a ride to the us stop, for a miracle the 50 was there about on time, and I just made a 25 when I got to Queens so I got home quickly.

There was a little technical trouble Teaming the FWiB but not bad. We only talked for a very short time though because I am beat. I fed the pets, had some cheese and crackers myself, and started here.

Gratitude List:

1. The FWiB.

2. The sleep study went well.

3. Got my mammogram and sonogram.

4. Got my meds.

5. My union.

6. My meetings and the people there.

This month features Trieste, Venice, Durham, and ice cream, as well as the usual dosages of children and cats.

On another note, I have just sent an e-mail to the wrong person with the same name *three* times. I think I need to step away from the keyboard for a bit.

Because I won't be able to post tonight because of the sleep study.

So, I got up at 9:00 and had breakfast and coffee, and showered and dressed. That too me until just before 11:00. Steve and Amy were supposed to arrive between 11:00 and 12:00. I was getting worried because I hadn't heard from them. Steve had said they would give me an idea of when they would arrive, so I almost wondered if we had misunderstood each other about which Thursday they were coming! But no, at a bit after 11:00 Amy texted an ETA of 11:20.

At 11:18 I started getting ready to go and was just putting my jacket on when Amy called and said they were there.

I met them and we went to the Neptune Diner, and had brunch. I had the cinnamon French toast, which was excellent. And orange juice since the only restriction I have on food for the sleep study is no caffeine after 12:00.

We sat talking for a long time after the meal while they had coffee. Then the check arrived and we decided to go to Busy Bee and sit there.

We found a parking spot on Northern Blvd, in front of Flushing High School, and went to Busy Bee. I asked what was caffeine free, and he told me one of the cream drinks, something like blue butterfly or like that. So we got drinks and settled down on the comfy chairs in the back.

We talked for a couple more hours, and then finally they had to go.

They drove me to pick up my laundry though, which was nice. I got that, and they dropped me off. A lovely, lovely time.

When I got in, I did something I should have done yesterday, called my psychiatrist to tell him that he needed to send the request for my prescription refills to the pharmacy. I actually got through to talk to him, he said he had sent it but would again. And now I have heard from the pharmacy that they are ready,

I also paid my rent as my pension came in today. So that's taken care of.

I am going to eat dinner at 6:00ish, and leave here for the study at 7:00. I will take the 44 to the 46, to where I would get off for the doctor, and an Uber from there.

I'll fill everyone in on how it went, tomorrow.

Gratitude List:

1. The FWiB, sadly no Teaming tonight though.

2. Steve and Amy.

3. The Neptune diner.

4. The Busy Bee.

5. Got a parking spot.

6. Clean laundry.
